Ray in the running for top chef award

The ChequersOur head chef Ray Brenner is rather pleased to have been chosen as a finalist in the 2015 Craft Guild of Chefs Awards, having reached the final three in the Pub Restaurant Chef Award category.  He’s off to the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in London next month to attend the awards ceremony.

Getting to the finals of these prestigious national awards is a big achievement for Ray, who has been with us since we arrived in Eversley Cross nearly two years ago.  In that time, his cheffing talent and sheer hard work have gone a long way to getting us where we are today.

Rays says that he’s ecstatic to have made the finals of the awards and can’t quite believe it’s really happening.  “A lot of hard work goes into being a chef, and it’s so nice to get recognition for it – it’s quite overwhelming in fact. It’s also fantastic to get positive feedback for something you’ve always done and believed in, and I’m just thrilled to be going to London to the finals next month,” he says.

Two rather important people will be going with him to the awards – his mum and dad.  They were the reason he became a chef in the first place.  They ran two rather good local pubs, The Prince Alfred and The Iron Duke in Crowthorne and Ray watched them make both a success, helping out in the kitchen at a young age.

 Good luck next month Ray!
